Description

The book contains nearly 150 photos taken by MacCormack throughout the years, some never seen before: from touring the Ziggy Stardust and Aladdin Sane shows and sailing to New York on a world tour, to Bowie’s first major film The Man Who Fell to Earth and the recording of Station to Station and his Thin White Duke persona.

Bowie wearing only his underwear while playing to adoring fans in Tokyo, meeting Russian villagers after stepping off the Trans-Siberian Railway or the filming The Man Who Fell to Earth in New Mexico… McCormack's years with Bowie seem to have been "the freakiest show" - but it's clear that he had the time of his life. He helped record six albums, including Pin Ups, Diamond Dogs, Young Americans - at the legendary Sigma Sound Studios in Philadelphia - and, of course, Station To Station. A photographic memoir like no other, David Bowie: Rock ‘n’ Roll with Me published by ACC Art Books chronicles MacCormack’s sixty years of friendship with Bowie, told with wit, humor, and candor.Bowie fans will enjoy the graphic display and especially to see the Londoner in his day-to-day life, sometimes posing with a Kansai Yamamoto model and other times looking scared in the Soviet Union, when MacCormack, Bowie and a few other friends meet. Illustrated with personal and previously unpublished photographs, this limited edition book offers a rare glimpse into life with music's greatest chameleon. And now David Bowie: Rock ‘n’ Roll With Me is out in the world ― perhaps the closest you’ll get to being on tour with Bowie in that era without a time machine and a backstage pass.

The book presents photographs and items of memorabilia including tour programmes, tickets, and letters, from the author's personal archives, nearly all of which are being published for the first time. Schooldays behind them, David Jones metamorphosed into David Bowie while Geoff worked at a string of clothes boutiques and even as a runner and occasional singer for the BBC Radio One DJ Emperor Rosko. Very close to David Bowie from the end of the 1960s, photographer and musician Geoff MacCormack immortalized the rocker’s first hours of glory. When David asked Geoff to join his band as a backing singer and percussionist, he was already well on the way to superstardom. All images are limited to only 100 editions, with each print individually numbered, and either stamped or embossed and signed by Geoff on the front, ready to be framed.Alongside his memories, MacCormack will also open his archive of photography from his travels, which feature images of David Bowie throughout. Most purchases from business sellers are protected by the Consumer Contract Regulations 2013 which give you the right to cancel the purchase within 14 days after the day you receive the item. Images bring MacCormack's stories to life, showing the places he and Bowie inhabited, the people they met and the adventures they shared.
